together, the perfect recipe for success.
That recipe has helped us become the country’s leading retail baker. We specialise
in sandwiches, savouries and all sorts of other baker-fresh food on-the-go. We started
business in the late 1930s, when John Gregg delivered yeast, eggs and confectionary on
his bicycle. After opening our first shop in 1951, we’ve grown so much that we now have
ten large-scale bakeries around the UK supplying the majority of our 1,500 shops.
Millions of hungry customers walk into our shops every single week. And while those shops
(and our products) may have changed, we're still just as committed to serving fresh,
quality, affordable bakery food. In fact, two thirds of our sales come from the sandwiches
we make in our shops, and freshly baked savouries such as pasties and sausage rolls.
Our people work in a variety of different jobs, including retail, management, bakery,
delivery and administration roles. Our aim has always been to promote from within. And
wherever you work at Greggs, you'll find we all pull together as part of the same family.
