Everyone who works their magic in any of our central or in-store bakeries, at
our savoury plant or behind the wheel of one of our delivery lorries is part
of our Bakery team. As you'd imagine, there's a lot going on. Layers of pastry
turned into sausage rolls. Flour turned into bread. Wholemeal loaves packaged.
Toffee muffins loaded onto lorries. Lorries rolling out to make sure our shops'
shelves stay full. And much, much more besides.
Our central bakeries are big operations, with hundreds of
people all working together to create great-tasting food. But equally, some of
our shops have their own bakeries. At all our sites, though, you'll find
traditional craft bakers at work. Fresh bread, rolls and cakes – they're all
freshly made, right here, every day.
Our central bakeries supply shops within a large radius. But their drivers can't
get everywhere and that's where our in-store bakeries come in. There, you can
work as a close-knit team to bake fresh products for the Retail Team in the shop,
as well as food that's loaded onto smaller vans to be driven to surrounding
shops too.
It's a hard day's work and through it all, you'll find there's a great atmosphere
around the place. Equally, because we've got such a big operation here, while you
might start in one area, you could move up, across into another area or simply
train to be the best team leader or operative we've ever had.
