food on shelves (and fly off them too).
If you're a manager or office-based at Greggs, don't ever think that you have to
be really corporate and serious. We're very much part of the family too, and work
in exactly the same open, friendly and close-knit way. That's not too difficult to
do either, because the training is top-notch, from customer service courses to
learning specific computer packages. In short, we support teams right across the
business, and get lots of support ourselves.
We have field based managers, looking after groups of shops, and lots of teams
working in more operational roles, ranging from People to Finance, IT to Retail.
And while some of the people in them joined us with specialist knowledge, most jobs
only call for some relevant experience and computer skills, along with great attention
to detail and confident communication skills.
It goes without saying that it helps to keep the big picture in mind. But we always
remember that we got to where we are by keeping in touch with the needs of our
customers. Everything we do is geared around their tastes – from the food we
produce to the way it's presented and sold. Whichever department we're in.
